Bengaluru: Traffic on the Tumkur Road in Bengaluru city was severely affected ahead of the inauguration of the Bhartiya Janta Party’s Parivartana Yatra rally scheduled to be held at Bangaluru International Exhibition Centre here on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the arrival of the BJP president Amit Shah has been delayed. The party chief was scheduled to kick off the 75-day Nava Karnataka Parivartana Yatra at 11.30 am, but he will now reach the Bangaluru International Exhibition Centre by afternoon.
Nearly two lakh party workers are expected to attend the inaugural event, of which one lakh are set to arrive on bikes.
The congestion is there from the stretch between Yeshwanthpur and the venue, which includes Jalahalli Cross, Goruguntepalya, Peenya and the NICE Road exit towards Tumkur Road, and is expected to affect motorists going towards Tumakuru or Airport via Tumkur Road during the day.
To reduce congestions, traffic police have instructed participants to come in different batches, and from multiple routes.
In addition, participants have been asked to commute only on the service roads in Tumkur Road, and not on the tolled road.
They have also been directed to proceed to their destinations after the event via Tumakuru, in order to avoid traffic congestion within the city.
