Congress steps up pressure on Amit Shah over son, defends Vadra
Bengaluru, (DHNS): The Congress on Tuesday strongly defended its president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, while upping the ante against BJP national president Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah, whose business reportedly saw a massive revenue growth after the BJP came to power.
Fresh allegations have emerged against Vadra following a TV news report that “absconding arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari booked business-class tickets for Vadra in 2012.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in power for 41 months. The BJP is in power in Haryana and Rajasthan as well, the states where Vadra is facing allegations. In these 41 months of witch-hunting, they (BJP) have not been able to point out any violation or wrongdoing on Vadra’s part,” senior Congress leader and the party’s media incharge Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters here.
Surjewala demanded that a commission of inquiry comprising two sitting Supreme Court judges be instituted to look into Jay Shah’s business dealings. “How did the business of Temple Enterprise Private Limited, a company owned by Amit Shah’s wife, daughter-in-law and son Jay Shah, increase 16,000 times in one year? What is the magic wand by which a company, earning a surplus of a mere Rs 18.8 lakh between 2004 and 2014 and making loss in 2012-13 and 2013-14, increases its turnover within a year of BJP coming to power,” was one of the 10 questions Surjewala posed.
“This is a moment of reckoning for Modi and a litmus test for his credibility, neutrality, and integrity. Modi and BJP must ask Amit Shah to resign pending the completion of a fair probe that even the RSS, the party’s parent organisation, has sought,” Surjewala said.
