‘Mangaluru Chalo’ rally: Denied permission, BJP workers clash with police in Bengaluru

Bengaluru (TNN): Despite being denied permission for ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ bike rally, BJP workers arrived at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park on Tuesday to attempt one from Bengaluru.

There were also clashes between the BJP men and police at the Freedom Park after party leaders and workers gathered there.

BJP Yuva Morcha planned ‘Mangaluru Chalo’, a protest rally, by workers on bike seeking ban on PFI, KFD and resignation of district minister B Ramanath R. BJP workers from various districts are expected to ride on bikes to take part in the rally to be held in Mangaluru.

The bike rally has been organised against the alleged murder of 18 Hindu activists and repeated incidents of violence against them.

Former Home Minister R Ashoka warned the police if they arrest BJP workers. “Dual tone being used by cops by requesting leaders to not step out and also arresting those who are on the streets in protest,” he said.

Accusing the Congress government of trying to curb “Mangaluru chalo”, a bike rally organised by its BJP Yuva Morcha in protest against the killings of Hindu activists in the coastal districts, state party leaders today met Home Minister, insisting it should be allowed.
