Man thrashes cop for stopping him on account of rule violation
Bengaluru, (DHNS): Indians are not exactly reputed for respecting road discipline in the world. Many people on the roads frequently break road rules just to shave off a few seconds of commute time, a mistake that often costs lives and causes property damage. Changing lanes out of turn, jumping a red light, speeding, driving in the wrong lane (or in worse cases, even driving on the wrong side of the roads), and talking while driving are some of the things that are seen commonly on roads in the country. But one man has gone too far and decided to try and beat his way out of a problem he himself created: driving on the wrong side of a road in a car.
A businessman named Himanshu Mittal was caught driving in his BMW on the wrong side of the road in Patiala’s Khanda Chowk. When the police officer on duty stopped him and asked to see his papers, Mittal reportedly began arguing with the cop to try and avoid showing the papers. However, after a while, he walked out of the car, began hurling abuses and even started slapping the cop.
The cop and Mittal engaged in a violent scuffle, breaking apart only when bystanders came in to intervene in the altrecation.
Mittal has been charged with obstructing a public servant from discarging his duty, which is a non-bailable offence. He has been remanded to judicial custody. A video clip shot by a bystander has since gone viral.
